SUMMARY:Community BioBlitz: Exploring Urban Biodiversity Through Citizen Science
DESCRIPTION:Community BioBlitz: Exploring Urban Biodiversity Through Citizen Science\nEnvironmental Education for a Better Earth (EEFABE) Canada and Fondation La Joie de Donner invite community members\, youth\, and families to participate in a special Community BioBlitz dedicated to exploring and documenting the rich biodiversity of Michel-Chartrand Park. \nUsing the citizen science platform iNaturalist\, participants will work together to observe\, photograph\, and identify plants\, birds\, insects\, fungi\, and other wildlife found throughout the park. Guided survey groups will explore different habitats\, including riparian areas\, wetlands\, forested zones\, and meadow edges\, helping to create valuable biodiversity records while learning directly from nature. \nWhether you are an experienced naturalist or simply curious about the environment\, everyone is welcome to join. Facilitators and volunteers will be available throughout the event to help participants identify species\, improve observation quality\, and contribute meaningful data to biodiversity monitoring efforts. \nWhy Biodiversity Monitoring Matters\nBiodiversity monitoring helps us better understand the health of local ecosystems and how species respond to environmental change. Every observation collected contributes to a larger scientific picture that supports conservation planning\, environmental education\, and community stewardship. \nAs global discussions on biodiversity continue to gain momentum\, citizen science initiatives such as this BioBlitz demonstrate how local communities can contribute to international conservation efforts.
