Using the citizen science platform iNaturalist, participants will work together to observe, photograph, and identify plants, birds, insects, fungi, and other wildlife found throughout the park. Guided survey groups will explore different habitats, including riparian areas, wetlands, forested zones, and meadow edges, helping to create valuable biodiversity records while learning directly from nature.

Whether you are an experienced naturalist or simply curious about the environment, everyone is welcome to join. Facilitators and volunteers will be available throughout the event to help participants identify species, improve observation quality, and contribute meaningful data to biodiversity monitoring efforts.

Biodiversity monitoring helps us better understand the health of local ecosystems and how species respond to environmental change. Every observation collected contributes to a larger scientific picture that supports conservation planning, environmental education, and community stewardship.

As global discussions on biodiversity continue to gain momentum, citizen science initiatives such as this BioBlitz demonstrate how local communities can contribute to international conservation efforts. The knowledge and experience gained through community biodiversity monitoring will also help inform EEFABE Canada’s engagement in discussions leading up to COP17 on Biological Diversity in Armenia, where collaboration, data, education, and community action will remain central themes.
